MARILYN R. (CARLSON) ULICH
1931 – 2018
EAST LONGMEADOW – Marilyn Ruth (Carlson) Ulich, 86, passed away on National Teacher Day, Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at her home in East Longmeadow with her beloved husband of 66 years, John at her side. She was born in Pittsburg, PA on July 11, 1931 a daughter of the late Oscar and Marion (Edmiston) Carlson and graduated from Classical High School and later from American International College. Marilyn was a longtime para professional and teacher’s aide for the East Longmeadow School Department. She primarily worked at East Longmeadow High School and retired in 2015 after completing over 40 years of dedicated teaching. She enjoyed gardening, playing piano, camping and traveling as well as spending time with her loving family. She is survived by her husband John Ulich of East Longmeadow; a daughter, Sandy Porcelli and her husband David of Wilbraham; a sister, Dale Carlson of Amherst, VA; her 3 adored grandchildren; Daniel Ulich and his wife Nicole, Michael Porcelli and his wife Lillie and Sarah Anderson and her husband Neil; 7 cherished great grandchildren; Layla, Emma, Hazel and Noah Ulich; Charlotte and Abigail Anderson and Anthony Porcelli. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. Marilyn was also predeceased by her son, John Ulich in 2015 and by her sisters, Diana Peterson and Nelma Wood. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 10-12noon at HAFEY FUNERAL HOME, 494 Belmont Ave., Springfield and under the direction of Michael Usher and conclude with a funeral home celebration service at 12 noon. The interment will be private at Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
