Alice J. (Wing) Henderson, a resident of the City of Holyoke, passed away on June 25, 2021 at 102 years old. Alice was born on November 11, 1918, the daughter of the late George W. and Hannie E. (Muzzey) Wing. She was a graduate of Holyoke High School, Class of 1936, attended a local business school, and would occasionally enroll in a course or two at HCC during the 1980s. Growing up in Holyoke, Alice lived just a block down the street from George Henderson, whom she would later marry in 1947. Alice was a member of the former Falls Congregational Church in South Hadley, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was also a Troop leader for the Girl Scouts for several years, a member of the Senior Citizens of Holyoke, and as a young adult she was a member of the Oak Leaf Rebekah Lodge, of Holyoke. Alice enjoyed taking trips with her mother up to Sunapee, NH, where her mother grew up and in her later years, Alice would travel to many different places around the world, including China, Germany, and Israel. In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband George (1980) and by her brother, W. Paul Wing. She is survived by her daughters, Dora Campbell, of Springfield, Cheryl Tarczynski of North Adams, her granddaughters Gail LaCosse of North Adams and Jennifer Campbell of Holyoke, her brother Richard Wing, of Newton, MA, as well as four great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours for Alice will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, with a funeral home service to take place at 5:30. Alice will be laid to rest next to her parents in Eastman Cemetery, in Sunapee, NH, at a later date.
