1942-2018
SPRINGFIELD –William “Bill” Sullivan Jr., 76, of Springfield, went to his eternal rest Sunday morning, March 4, 2018. He was born on February 19, 1942, in Holyoke, son of the late William and Viola (Peloquin) Sullivan. He grew up in Chicopee, where he also raised his own family. He graduated from St. Jerome’s High School, class of ’59, and went on to serve proudly in the US Air Force, spending time stationed overseas in Turkey. William spent his long career as an electrician and member of IBEW Local 7. He was most proud of his work for the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, NY, helping to install the lights that lined the ski jumps. He was also a talented handyman and was always happy to use his skills to help family and neighbors. William was predeceased by his youngest sister Peggy Slowik and her husband John, as well as his brother-in-law Morgan Kennedy. He will be dearly missed by his children William Sullivan and wife Sara of Potomac, MD, Tricia (Sullivan) Stallman and husband Paul of Chicopee, and Karen (Sullivan) Broughan and Nathan of Wells, ME; six grandchildren: Brayden, Christian and Shane Stallman, Jack, Hunter, and Julia Sullivan. He also leaves behind 4 surviving sisters, Maureen Kennedy, Joann Adams and her husband Jimmy, Gail Funk and her husband Henry, and Elaine Regnier as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 9-11AM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA with a Funeral Home Service at 11AM. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Lyman St., South Hadley. Donations in William’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
