Walter Podoski of Holyoke, 79, passed away peacefully on October 22nd, 2026. Born to Walter and Lillain on March 26th, 1947, he was a lifelong resident of Holyoke.

Walter graduated from Holyoke High School and spent a long career at Hampden Papers, printing many kinds of papers, including Christmas wrapping paper, before his retirement.

He is predeceased by his parents and his loving wife Shirely.

Walter spent his life in Holyoke. If he wasn’t fishing, he enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Shirely. They went on many adventures together from New England to New Mexico, but Massachusetts always held a special place in their hearts. Walter had a fascination with history and if he wasn’t researching Massachusetts’ mysteries and past, he could always be found on the History channel watching documentaries, most notably about Would War II.

Walter had a larger than life personality. He was a thoughtful and caring man who was always thinking of others. You could always depend on him to help when needed.

Walter will be greatly missed and forever loved.
