Walter J. Krajewski
1929-2015
HOLYOKE- Walter J. Krajewski, 85, passed away on June 2, 2015 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born on September 16, 1929 in Holyoke to the late Frank and Ernestine (LeClair) Krajewski. Walter was a lifelong resident of Holyoke and took pride in his beloved city receiving recognition and multiple Citizen Pride awards. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving aboard the U.S.S. Hank, and U.S.S. Smalley and earned the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Walter had the honor of walking and carrying our nation’s flag in the Memorial Day Parades in Holyoke. He also enjoyed attending Navy Reunions and was a member of the American Legion Post 351 in Holyoke. Walter worked as a chef at the Log Cabin Restaurant, retiring in 1990 after over 45 years of dedicated work. He was married to Elizabeth (FitzGerald) and they spent many loving years together until her passing in 1996. Walter will be sadly missed by a son, Walter (Laurie) Krajewski; three daughters, Susan Rego, Nancy (Michael) Donoghue, and Mary (Roger) Burleson; seven grandchildren, Mary (Ian) Scott, Karen (Corey) Enger, Ryan Krajewski, Emily and Jared Burleson, and Jerome and Elizabeth Donoghue; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Scott and Greyson Enger. He is also survived by three sisters, Millie Turcotte, Viola Gerlack, and Dolores Peterhansel. Services for Walter will be private with a burial in St. Jerome cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Walter requested for you to treat yourself to something special in his honor.
