Vivian Rita Giroux

CHICOPEE- Vivian Rita (Labonte) Giroux, 96, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Williamansett East. Rita was born in Chicopee on January 17, 1916 a daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Houle) Labonte and educated in Chicopee Schools. Rita was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family with her husband, Gerard Giroux who died October 13, 1975. Rita was a woman of great faith and was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church now Our Lady of Guadalupe. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her son, Gerard E. and his wife Patricia Giroux of Meredith, NH; his daughters, Marie Jersey of Highland Mills, NY; Dorie Mollica and her husband Robert Mollica of Lincoln, NH. Rita will be missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Rita was also predeceased by a son Roland “Mike” Giroux on January 26, 1980; a daughter Jeanne Fern on November 14, 1986 and her brothers and sisters, Arthur, Raymond, Norman, Roger, Blanche and Alida. A visiting hour will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 9 AM until 10:30 AM in the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040 and be followed by a Catholic Funeral Home Service at 10:30 AM. The burial will be in St. Jerome Cemetery, Northampton St., Holyoke.
