Viola Mae Gero

VIOLA MAE GERO 1926 � 2017 HOLYOKE- Viola Gero, 91, a proud Holyoke resident passed away at Holyoke Medical Center on Sunday, May 21, 2017. She was born in Altona, NY a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Provost) Gero. She was educated locally most recently worked for Pratt & Austin retiring after 20 years of service with the company. Prior to that, she worked at Elco Dress Co. as a presser but took most enjoyment from spending time with her extended family and friends. She is a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and enjoyed helping others, traveling especially to Hawaii, Virginia and Europe. She also loved her Siamese cats and her Irish music. She is survived by her brother, Leonard Gero of Holyoke; her sister in law, Carolyn Gero of Southampton as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. She was predeceased by her 7 siblings: Irene, Marcelle and Clarence Gero; Betty Karwoski; Earl �Red� Gero; June Williamson and Andrew Gero. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 9AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St., Holyoke and be followed by the Rite of Burial and Committal in St. Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke.
