Tribute
Victor Julio Solano, 63, passed away Monday January 24, 2022 at Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke. Born in San Jose, Costa Rica to Victor and Francisca (Ramirez) Solano, he was a longtime South Hadley resident.
Victor was employed with the Canteen Corp in Connecticut for 30 years and most recently in Maintenance with the Holyoke Courthouse for several years.
Victor leaves his loving wife, Kathleen (Nelson) (Erickson) Solano of Holyoke; his five children, Christopher Solano of Holyoke, Melissa Torres and her husband Pedro of Belchertown, Michaela Solano of Holyoke, Keith Erickson of Holyoke and Jenna Erickson of California; six siblings, Ana Cecilia Winterle, William Solano and his wife Lidia, Carlos Solano and his wife Cruz, Gerardo Solano and his wife Ligia, Rosibel LaPointe and Yanory Roque and her husband Victor Manuel Rocque; two adored grandchildren, Sean Solano and Lillyanna Torres; brother-in-law, Carlos Luis Brenes and by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins both here and in Costa Rica.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Yadira Brenes and by his brother-in-law, Forrest LaPointe.
Victor loved life, people and his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed watching football with his nephews, and he found great joy in hosting many pool parties over the years and taking many beautiful rides and walks with his wife, Kathy. But Victor was happiest when he would share his cooking with his family and friends. Everything he made tasted wonderful, especially his Tamales.
Family and friends are invited to meet for a period of visitation on Sunday January 30th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. All family and guests are asked to please wear a facemask while in the funeral. Burial will be private for the family at a later date.
