Stella Skwirz

HOLYOKE- Stella Skwirz, 90, a lifelong Holyoke resident and longtime Mater Dolorosa Parishioner passed away on Friday, Feb.7, 2014 at Wingate Nursing Home, South Hadley, MA. She was born in Holyoke on July 1, 1923 the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Boczon) Skwirz and educated at Mater Dolorosa School. She retired from National Blank Book, Holyoke, MA and a self employed housekeeper for many years working for many area families and businesses. Stella enjoyed playing cards BINGO and going to Mohegan Sun with her lady friends. She is predeceased by her mother, father, sister Stasia Kazmierski & brother John Skwirz. She is survived by a brother, Edward Skwirz of Holyoke, nieces, nephews, great & great great nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 from 9:30-10:30AM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke and be followed by a funeral home service at 10:30AM. The burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, So. Hadley. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Stella�s name can be made to Friends of the Council on Aging, 291 Pine St, Holyoke, MA 01040.
