Stanley Malek

Holyoke- Stanley J. Malek, 76, was returned to the kingdom of the Lord on Monday, May 13, 2013. He was born and raised in Holyoke on August 14, 1936 to the late Vincent and Mary (Lisiewicz) Malek. Stanley was a 1954 graduate of Holyoke High School and was a Korean War veteran. He graduated from the U.S. Navy School of Music in 1955 and was an accomplished trumpet player, playing with Golden Kings and Larry Chesky. Stanley was a member of musician Local 144 for 40 years. He worked for Daniel O’Connell & Sons construction company in Holyoke for many years and was an appraiser for several insurance companies, Allstate Insurance in CT, and also with Reliance Insurance in MA. Most recently, he worked as a custodian with the Chicopee School Department retiring in 2010. Stanley leaves his wife Eileen (Turgeon) Malek; his two sons, Stan Malek and his wife Alicia of Granby, and Steven Malek of Holyoke; two sisters, Anne St. Peters of FL and Helen Lamagdeleine of Holyoke; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Rachel, and Joshua Malek. A funeral home service will be held Friday, May 17th at 10am from the Messier Funeral Home 1944 Northampton St, Holyoke. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley.
