Ruth Eleanor (Scott) Reith

RUTH E. REITH 1918 -2011 HOLYOKE - Ruth Eleanor (Scott) Reith, widow of Thomas T. Reith, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011. She was 92 years old and the daughter of the late Jane M. Moody. She was born in Holyoke, Mass., and was a graduate of Holyoke High School, class of 1936. She retired in February of 1984 from Highland Upholstering Co. where she was a bookkeeper for 18 years. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was Directress of the Altar Guild from 1984 to 2001, a member of the Prayer Group and a Custodian of the UTO. She was a former member of the Pioneer Valley Business and Professional Women and in May 1984 joined the Chicopee Club. She was also a long time secretary of the American Cancer Society. She leaves a son, Thomas T. Reith II and daughter-in-law Deborah P. Reith of Enfield Ct.; a granddaughter, Jessica Jean Hinkley, her husband Jonathan, and great granddaughter Kiera Hinkley and great grandson Duncan Hinkley; a grandson, Thomas T. Reith III, his wife Emily, and great granddaughters Arianna and Isabella, and great grandson Spencer. She also leaves several cousins. For the last 5 years, she has been lovingly cared for by the staff of Chestnut Point Care Center in East Windsor, CT, and her final days were made easier with the help of Masonicare. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040 followed by a service in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, at 11 AM. Burial will be in Forestdale Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St. Holyoke, MA 01040-3295.
