Chicopee – Mrs. Rose M. (Amero) Corbeil, 86, a forty year Chicopee resident, formerly of Holyoke, passed away on Wednesday, August 25 at the Mercy Medical Center. She was born in New Haven, CT on November 17, 1923, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (St. Jean) Amero. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. Rose loved caring for her beloved family, doing various crafts, camping, travelling around the country, and spent fourteen years vacationing in Florida. She was also a member of the Smith Ferry Women’s Club for over twenty years and a communicant of St. Anne’s Church and also a rosary maker there. She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty three years, Eugene L. Corbeil, two sons; Philip and his wife Linda of Southampton, and Joseph and his wife Darlene of Shelburne Falls, MA, two daughters; Margaret Jones and her husband David of Phoenix, AZ, and Marie Root and her husband Benjamin of Easthampton. She also leaves her brother, Alphonse Amero and his wife Natalie of Chicopee, and will be sadly missed by thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St. (Route 5) Holyoke on Monday August 30 from 8:30 to 10am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Anne’s Church, 30 College St. in Chicopee. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley.
