1938 – 2019

HOLYOKE- Ronald Joseph Bey, 81, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. He was born in Holyoke on May 3, 1938, the son of the late Carl and Stella (Geraltowski) Bey. He was educated in the Holyoke Schools and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and Reserves.  Ron was a longtime Meatcutter, who worked for many years with D’Amours-Big Y, and FoodMart supermarkets. He began his trade at the former Popular Market in Holyoke. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and was a loyal NY Yankees and Giants fan. He was an animal enthusiast and was an avid supporter of the Boys and Girls Club in Holyoke. Ron was a loving father, grandfather and husband. A kind person who was always took time for others and will be deeply missed. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Rosemary (Manning) Bey of Holyoke; his daughters, Kristin Bey of North Oxford (William Taylor); Ellen and Wayne Martin of Watertown; Catherine Bey of Holyoke (Michael Clark); Susan and John Truhan of Farmington, CT; two stepdaughters, Kelly Dulude of Jericho, VT and Gina Poole of Chicopee. Ron will be sorely missed by his grandchildren, Julia Martin, Aidan Truhan, Andrew Truhan, Fiona-Rose Dulude, Nicole Martin and Tyler Martin. Ron also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including Katie Lynch Grose of Framingham, MA. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy (LaFerriere) Bey and by his brother Robert C. Bey. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 4-7 P.M. at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. His funeral will begin on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 8:45 A.M. from Messier’s and be followed by a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish, Holy Cross Ave, Holyoke, MA. The burial will be in St. Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke.
