Robert Barnard

GRANBY- Robert K. Barnard, 60, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at his residence in Granby. He was born in Holyoke on March 7, 1952 a twin brother of Charles Barnard who survives him. Charles and his wife Susan reside in Hubbardston, MA. He was the son of the late Ivan and Gertrude (Cisek) Barnard and was raised and educated in the Holyoke School System. He enjoyed playing cards, the outdoors and was a fisherman, hunter, motorcycle enthusiast and loved Elvis music. He was an independent truck driver for over 30 years, loved traveling and enjoyed being able to stop at the varied food establishments all over the states as he traveled. Robert is also survived by his son, Bobby Barnard and his wife Amy of W. Springfield, MA; a sister, Cathy Figueroa and her husband Angel of Holyoke; his granddaughter, Bianca Barnard of W. Springfield; several nieces and nephews and his longtime caregiver and best friend, Connie Batchlor and her husband Bill of Granby. He also leaves his dog Joe and numerous friends and extended family members. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 12-1PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040 and be followed by a funeral home service at 1PM. The burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley, MA. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
