Rene V. Hebert, Jr., Age 79, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Holyoke, MA, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2026 at Delray Medical Center after a period of failing health.
Born in Boston on September 5, 1947, he was the son of Dr. Rene V. and Claire M. (Rheaume) Hebert.
He graduated from Wilbraham Academy, and was a standout on the track team, sprinting to many victories. He then went across the pond for a PG year at Felsted, in England, where he honed his Shakespeare, and found new skills in the sport of rugby. That year was especially memorable for him as it included a lifetime family tour zooming around France and Spain with his parents, inclusive of a bull fight, and some excellent paella (one of his favorite foods).
After graduating from Alfred University, he moved to New York City, and began what would be a lifelong career in the computer industry. In those years he joined the NY Athletic Club, and pursued many judo belts. He was a magnificent skier, and could take on any slope on the globe, but truly enjoyed his 70's trips to Vermont with ski buddies.
He served as a staff sergeant in the Connecticut Air National Guard, and US Air Force Reserve during the Vietnam War.
He eventually turned his passion into a business, moved back to Massachusetts, and founded Hebert Associates Consulting. His business in financial systems and IBM mainframe consulting was one of his proudest achievements.
In 2014 he relocated to Boynton Beach, FL to enjoy retirement in the sunshine state.
He leaves a sister, Angele Myers of Marlborough, MA; a nephew, Mac Myers, of Ashland, MA; and many cousins with whom he enjoyed lively discussions, debates and family feasts.
Calling hours will be held at Messier Funeral Home, Holyoke, MA from 9-11AM on Thursday, November 12, followed by a graveside burial service at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley, MA.
May he rest in peace, in a place where great conversations and sunshine go on forever.
