RAYMOND “COUNT” COMTOIS

1930-2019

HOLYOKE- Raymond “Count” Comtois, 89, of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born in Chicopee on January 6, 1930, a son of the late Valmore and Bernadette (St. Pierre) Comtois. He was educated locally and later served honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War. In his younger years, he was a semi pro boxer in Holyoke and Chicopee. Raymond worked for several dedicated years as a forklift operator for New England Container. In 1989, he married the love of his life, Mary Louise (Guimond) Comtois, who survives him. In his spare time Raymond enjoyed basketball, playing horseshoes, spending time at Camp John, and playing with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by five siblings. In addition to his wife, Raymond leaves his loving children, Kathleen Seidel and her husband Butch; James Keeler and his wife Rosa; Thomas Keeler Comtois and his wife Mary; Sheila Littles and her husband Charles; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Leo Comtois and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 4-7PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St, Holyoke MA with a funeral home service at 6:30PM. The burial will be private in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. For more details please visit www.messierfuneralhome.com .
