Holyoke - Nelida Marrero, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center at the age of 74. Nelida was born on March 27, 1947, in Corozal, Puerto Rico, a daughter of Manuel Marrero and Antonia Perez, she was raised and educated in Corozal, before first arriving in Liberty, NY and later becoming a longtime resident of Holyoke. Nelida was always at the center of her family. She enjoyed sitting by the fireplace on cold winter days and drinking her special blend of coffee throughout the day. She is survived by her loving children, Maribel Arroyo and her husband, Emilio of Westfield, Nitza Adzuder and her husband, Tony of Arizona, Edwin Maldanado and Milagrito Melendez-Marrero both of Springfield, and Elizabeth Melendez of Chicopee, sister, Gloria Acevedo-Marrero of Holyoke, brother, Felo Marrero of Taunton, 13 cherished grand children and 5 great grandchildren. Family and friends will gather for calling hours for Nelida on Thursday, December 2, from 4-7 p.m., followed by a service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
