Holyoke - Miriam Colon, 58, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021. She was the daughter of Gumersinda Colon and the late Angel Luis Colon. Miriam was a lifelong Holyoke resident and worked as a caregiver and Medical Assistant for many years. She was most proud of her work as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter. In her free time, she enjoyed trips to the casino, loved cooking for her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. Miriam leaves her devoted and loving husband, Rafael Rivera of 37 years; her children, Rafael Rivera Colon, Marian Rivera Colon, and Yazmin Rivera Colon and three grandsons, Dwayne, Dylan, and Damian. She will also be missed by her siblings, Luis Angel Colon, Miguel Angel Colon, Nelly Colon, Evelyn Colon, and Iris Colon Gonzalez. Besides her father, Angel Luis Colon, she was also predeceased by her brother, Angel “Jimmy” Colon. Miriam's funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 10 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 54 North Summer St., Holyoke, MA, followed by burial in the St. Rose Cemetery in South Hadley, MA. Visiting Hours will be Friday, March 5, 2021, from 5 to 7 PM at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA. Please wear your mask throughout the services and follow social distancing guidelines for the safety of all in attendance.
