Michael Everett Long, longtime resident of Holyoke, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at his home at the age of 70.
He was born on July 28, 1953, in Annapolis, MD, a son of Gen. Robert F. and Madeline (Lewis) Long.
Michael was raised in a military family and was educated in several different states. He was a graduate of Fort Hunt High School in Alexandria, VA., later attended and graduated from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT, and took several post graduate courses at UMass Amherst.
Over the course of his career Mike worked as tech support at a few different companies. His final position was in the I.T. Department at Western New England College. Prior to his computer certification he spent many years as the Manager at the former Infinity Lounge in Springfield.
Michael was very generous to all that knew him and was sensitive to others’ needs. He was a true friend and all-around great guy who will be deeply missed.
He leaves his loving siblings, Patricia E. Davis of Berkley, CA, John G. Long and his wife, Delight Wing of Jericho, VT, and Kathryn Famulari and her husband, Thomas of Nahant, MA, numerous nieces and nephews, and his close friend Sophie Garza of Chicopee.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his lifelong partner, Helen Spencer in 2018, brother, Robert F. “Rusty” Long, Jr., and brother-in-law, David Davis.
A private celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
