Marthe C. Chartier

CHICOPEE- Marty C. (Desautels) Chartier, 63, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Holyoke Medical Center after letting go of her spirited challenge with diabetes. She was born in St. Albans, VT on August 31, 1953, a daughter of the late Omer and Gabrielle (Rousseau) Demers Desautels. She was raised in Holyoke and attended Perpetual Help School and later graduated from Enfield High School. Marty was a longtime executive secretary in the banking industry beginning her career with Bank of New England primarily working with automotive dealerships. Successful at her profession, Marty was sought after by her colleagues in the automotive and banking industry to accomplish the goal. She did this with great care and concern for others and her ability to bond with others was incredible. She loved being involved with people, travelling to Schroon Lake and was an avid animal lover. Marty is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Bruce A. Chartier with who she shared her kindness and sweet and energetic ways. Marty also leaves her half-sisters, Therese Desautels of Chicopee; Celine Slesinsky of Binghamton, NY and Pauline DePalo of Agawam, MA. She will be missed dearly by her many extended family members, colleagues, friends and caregivers who helped make her life journey so special. Life celebration hours will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 5-8PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. A funeral home service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:30AM at Messier’s.
