1947 – 2019
HOLYOKE – Maria Isabel Ramirez Mata, 72 passed away on Sunday August 18, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Cartago, Costa Rica on February 2, 1947 a daughter of the late Roberto and Esperanza (Poveda) Salazar Mata. She was educated in Costa Rica and immigrated to the US as a young woman. She was primarily a homemaker and took great pride in raising her family as well as being a woman of great faith. She enjoyed dancing as well as being an accomplished seamstress and cook. Isa is survived by her husband, Felix Ramirez of Holyoke; her eight children, Marco Ramirez; Rosa Rodriguez and her husband Angel; Patricia Ramirez and her husband Efrain; Bernal Ramirez; Maria Ramirez; Jim Ramirez and his wife Leah; Felix Ramirez and his wife Ashley McCarthy and Randal Ramirez. Mami Isa will be missed by her 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and by her sisters, Julieta, Juliana, Marta, Alba, Flory, Lillian and by her brother Carlos Luis Brenes. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Visiting hours are Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 4-7PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. Her funeral will begin on Friday at 9:15AM from Messier’s and conclude with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 54 North Summer Street, Holyoke.
