Margaret A. (Lumbra) Goodchild
1946 – 2012

South Hadley, MA – Margaret A. Goodchild, age 65, passed away Tuesday January 24, 2012 following a long battle with cancer. She was born June 17, 1946 in Montgomery, VT the daughter of the late Roy & Theresa (Lortie) Lumbra. Margaret’s parents moved to Holyoke where she attended Blessed Sacrament School and later graduated from Holyoke Catholic in 1964. After her marriage to Robert in 1975 they relocated back to Montgomery, VT in 1978 where she owned and operated the hair salon in town. Later Margaret and Robert owned and operated the West Hill Weavers knitting business until 1998. In 2002 after the passing of her husband Margaret moved back to Holyoke where she remained until her passing. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E, Goodchild in 2002. She is survived by one brother James R. Lumbra and his wife Barbara of Southampton, MA. She will be sadly missed by two nephews David J Lumbra and Jon D. Lumbra and his wife Patricia all of Holyoke as well as a niece Brenda J. Lumbra and her spouse Mellissa James of North Reading, MA. Lastly she leaves three Great Nieces; Kayla, Sophia and Lilian who always put a smile on her face. Calling hours are Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 8:30-10:30 AM at Messier Funeral Home, (Route 5) 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke. The Burial and Rite of Committal will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, So. Hadley.
