Lisa Marie Sawicki

CHICOPEE- Lisa M. Sawicki, 48, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013 at her home while giving an all- out courageous battle to overcome cancer. She died in the presence of Mark, Kyle, Sheridan and her faithful dog Cooper by her side. Lisa was a woman with great spirit and will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. She was born in Holyoke, MA on February 13, 1965 a daughter of the late Donald and Josephine (Lowell) Laferriere and was a graduate of Granby High School, Holyoke Community College and Springfield Technical Community College. Lisa worked for over 18 years with the Hampden County Sheriff�s Department in Ludlow in the medical department and was currently the head medical clerk at the Ludlow Correctional Facility. She was one of a kind and touched the lives of so many people. She was a 5 year volunteer and organizer for the Toys for Tots Program and anyone who entered the Buffalo Club knew that they needed to bring a gift for the kids. Her family is grateful to all that helped support Lisa in her fight against cancer and without that support she would have not been able to continue working and battling the cause with such determination. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Mark S. Sawicki of Chicopee; her son, Kyle Sawicki and his significant Sheridan Reed of Chicopee; her best buddy and dog, Cooper; her brother, Flub Laferriere and his wife Sharon of Belchertown who own Complete Disposal; her sister, Debbie Piquette and her husband Mark of Chicopee; her nephews and niece, Mark, Jeremy, Justin and Jaime; her grandnieces and grandnephew, Rachel, Corey, and Nathan; her best friend, Phyllis, who remained by her side and her in laws, Jan and Steph Sawicki of Granby. Lisa is now welcomed into peace and rest by her parents, Donald and Josephine and her brother C.J. Laferriere. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 2-5PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. Her funeral will begin on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 8:45AM from the funeral home and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady of The Cross Church, Holyoke. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. RUFKM.
