HOLYOKE_Karol Frederick Dydek, 90, of Holyoke, died suddenly on February 6, 2014. He was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Wilbraham-Monson Academy. Karol graduated from the Fenway School of Mechanical Optics and worked as an optician at Pratt & Whitney for over 25 years retiring in 1987.He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Irene (Courchesne) Dydek; a son, Charlie Dydek and his wife Deborah Koch; two daughters, Barbara Simpson and her husband Geoffrey; Mary Sexton and her husband Eric; his grandchildren, Dennis & Kimmy Scribner, Amy & Tim Sullivan, Danyelle Hyndman, David Hyndman, Dominique Ferguson, Eric Sexton, Griffin Simpson, and great-grandsons Max & Myles Scribner. Karol was a model train enthusiast, loved to read, do crossword puzzles, a faithful Red Sox fan and an avid gardener. Holyoke will remember Karol�s meticulously kept yard and Karol as the man who tirelessly swept the street in front of his home. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and a son Kyle Dydek. Visiting hours will be Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 from 4-7PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke. His funeral will begin on Tuesday, Feb 11, 2014 at 8:45AM from the funeral home and be followed by the Mass at 10AM in Blessed Sacrament Church. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, So. Hadley. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Dakin Animal Shelter, PO Box 6307, Spfld, MA 01101.
