HOLYOKE – June M. (Barcome) Doherty, 74, died Monday May 11, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Easthampton on July 6, 1934 to the late Leslie and Rose (Dionne) Barcome. June attended schools in Holyoke and was a former parishioner of St. Jerome Church. She most recently attended Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. June was very fond of the computer, particularly playing games and emailing her friends. She had just started learning art with water colors. June truly loved her canine friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Daniel M. Doherty Sr., on September 26, 2006 after fifty years of marriage. She will be sadly missed by her son, Daniel M. Doherty Jr. and his wife Cathy of Holyoke; her three brothers, Donald Barcome and his wife Irene of Springfield, Robert Barcome of Springfield and John Barcome and his wife Faith of Wilbraham; her three sisters, Linda Hedges and her husband Michael of Chicopee, Rita Duncan and her husband Leonard of Fl and Carol Desroches and her husband Paul of Springfield; her two grand daughters, Jodi Ross and her husband Jim of Flint, MI and Jamie Harper of Holyoke; her two great grandsons, James and Aiden Ross of Flint, MI; her godmother, Joanna Larose of Holyoke; her special friends Lorraine, Christine and Cindy and her special canine friend, Snoopy. Beside her parents and her husband, June was predeceased by her son, Dr. Kevin Doherty M.D. in 1995; her brother Francis Barcome and her two sisters, Barbara Willard and Anita Montanez. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery in Holyoke. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in June’s memory, to the Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden St, Holyoke, MA, 01040.
