Chicopee - John Andrew Ouimet, 77, passed away Friday June 26, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Huntingdon, Canada to the late David and Yvette (Dechampo) Ouimet, he attended schools in Canada and Holyoke and later graduated from Liberty University in Virginia. John served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Throughout his career, he was an area supervisor for the Appleton Corporation Holyoke and he was a police officer for the Granby, MA Police Department for many years. He was also a faithful member of the Life Point Church in South Hadley. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Star (Provost) Ouimet of Chicopee; his children, Joseph C. Ouimet, Dawn Orwat and Denise Marek and her husband Tony, all of Chicopee; brother, Roger Ouimet of South Hadley; sister, Claudette Wischoff of Holyoke and grandchildren, Tyler and Ayden Marek and Nicholas, Jordan and Jeremiah Orwat; a great grandson, Liam Keegan and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two sons, John S. Ouimet and Scott D. Ouimet and son-in-law, Peter Orwat. Family and friends are invited to meet for a period of visitation on Thursday July 2, 2020 from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St. in Holyoke followed by a 10:30 am service in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Memorial donations may be made in John’s memory to Thomas J.
