Jean Moreau

HOLYOKE- Jean R. (Bergeron) Moreau, 87, of Holyoke died on May 15, 2014 at Holyoke Health Care Center. She was born in Holyoke on February 7, 1927 to the late Raymond and Rita (Parent) Bergeron, and graduated from Holyoke High School Class of 1944. Jean then attended the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1947. She was a Registered Nurse in the medical surgical and maternity wards at the Holyoke Hospital, and in addition to was a private duty nurse for many years. Jean worked at Applewood in Amherst as a R.N. and was then a school nurse and substitute for the Holyoke Board of Health. Jean completed her dedicated nursing career at The Falls Nursing Home in Chicopee, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Chairperson of the Holyoke Hospital Registered Nurse Private Duty Registry for many years. Jean is predeceased by her husband Lester Moreau in 1995, and her brother Raymond C. Bergeron, Jr. She is survived by her loving children; one son, James Moreau and his wife Michelle of Haydenville; two daughters, Pamela Lucas and her husband Pierre, and Diane Robert, both of Holyoke. Jean is also survived by her sister Margaret Shepardson and her husband Harley of TX; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services for Jean will be held Monday, May 19 at 8:15am from the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northhampton St, Holyoke, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am in Our Lady of the Cross Church, Holy Cross Ave. The burial will be in St. Jerome Cemetery, Section B South, Northhampton St, Holyoke. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 18 from 2-5pm at the funeral home.
