JAMES R. LaMAGDELAINE 1951 – 2019 HOLYOKE – Jim LaMagdelaine, 68, a longtime Springdale resident of Holyoke passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke on January 8, 1951 a son of the late Joseph and Dorine (Fountain) LaMagdelaine and was educated in the Chicopee Schools. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served his country honorably as a mechanic. Jim was a longtime employee at Major Wire Cable working as a wire coder. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Nawalski) LaMagdelaine in 1995. Jim enjoyed being in the great outdoors and loved camping, country music and watching Elvis movies. He is survived by his four sons, Eric LaMagdelaine; David LaMagdelaine, John LaMagdelaine and Paul LaMagdelaine all of Holyoke; his sister, Carol Southiere of CT; his brother Ray LaMagdelaine of Delaware and by his adored granddaughter, Maryjane of MA. Jim also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Jim’s family will receive friends on Wednesday morning July 3, 2019 from 11AM-12:30PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040 and services will conclude with burial in Precious Blood Cemetery, South Hadley.
