1948-2018

HOLYOKE- Jaime T. Rodriguez, 70, of Holyoke, passed away at the Mont Marie Health Care Center on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. He was born in Morovis, Puerto Rico on February 1, 1948, a son of the late Florentino Rodriguez and Nicolasa Padilla. He earned his Master’s Degree in Education in Puerto Rico and worked as a teacher for many years, both in Puerto Rico and in Springfield elementary schools, primarily at Mary Lyons Elementary, Gerena Magnet School, Indian Orchard Elementary, and Milton Bradley Elementary. When he wasn’t educating the youth of the community, Jaime was an avid reader who enjoyed sitting down with the newspaper, Spanish literature, and political biographies. He was always eager to lend a hand and loved being a grandfather. He was predeceased by his siblings, Victor, Angel, and Carmen Rodriguez. Jaime will be missed by his wife, Nelida Matos; his children, Jaime Rodriguez and his wife Maria Dolores Morillo of CA; Damaris Rodriguez Teixeira and her husband Antonio of RI; Gabriel Rodriguez and his wife Joan Annexy-Lopez of Holyoke; his cherished grandchildren, Marcos Rodriguez Morillo; Julia Rodriguez Morillo; Isabella Teixeira; Emma Teixeira; and Sarah Rodriguez Annexy. Jaime is also survived by his siblings, Nereida, Enelia, Manuel, and Jose Rodriguez, all of Puerto Rico. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2-5PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
