Isabelle Epperson-Wellspeak
1924-2015
HOLYOKE- Isabelle “Izzy” M. Epperson- Wellspeak, 91, passed away on August 10, 2015 in the Holyoke Soldier’s Home. Izzy was born on April 13, 1924 in Holyoke, the daughter of the late Leo and Laura (Nobert) Bacon. She attended school in Holyoke, graduating from Holyoke High in 1942. Izzy then joined the US Navy, proudly serving her country during WWII. She had a joyous spirit and became an inspiration to many friends and family members throughout her life. She is predeceased by her brother, Leo Bacon, JR. Izzy is survived by her son, Robert Epperson and his wife Ruthann of West Chester, PA; her daughter, Carol Kelly and her husband Marvin of Plainville, CT; four grandchildren, Christopher Epperson and his wife Julia, Matthew Epperson and his wife Jill, Darrin Boutote and his wife Sonia, and Doreen O’Sullivan and her husband Timothy; nine grandchildren, Timmy, Patrick, Liam, Emilie, Elisabeth, Nina, Natalie, Lila, and Georgia; her nephew, Bill Bacon and his wife Lil; and her niece, Barbara Fernandez and her husband Angel. Izzy’s family would like to thank the entire staff at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home, for the love and dedication given to her during the past four years, and also to the staff of the Dialysis Center of Western Mass for their care of Izzy. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 4-7PM in the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St in Holyoke. Services will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 beginning at 9AM at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in Blessed Sacrament, 1945 Northampton St in Holyoke. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman St in South Hadley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Soldier’s Home, 110 Cherry St, Holyoke, MA 01040.
