Guy Robert D'Angelo

Guy Robert D’Angelo, 85, longtime resident of Westfield and beloved husband of 57 years of Ann M. (Tebo) D’Angelo, who predeceased him on November 11, 2016, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Guy was born on February 22, 1939, in Pittsfield, MA, the son of Guido J. and Ruth G. (Whittier) D’Angelo. He was raised and educated in Pittsfield and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Pittsfield.
Guy proudly served his country honorably in U.S. Air Force from 1956 – 1960 as an Airman First Class and later continued his service in the Air National Guard, before fully retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 1986.
He had a long career as truck driver that spanned over 40 years working for Yellow Freight formerly of Westfield, before his retirement in 1998. As a member of the Teamsters Local 404, he remained in solidarity with his fellow truckers.
Guy’s true passion was his family. Along with his wife, he created a loving family who he adored. He cherished every moment he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Guy loved his Tuesdays with the members what he called The Knitting Club. His beloved fellow truckers Red, Paul, Bob, Alan and Al were invited weekly to his home where they shared stories and affectionately ribbed each other.
He leaves behind his loving children, Paul D’Angelo and his wife, Sharon of Chicopee, and Lori Wayson and her husband, Jim of Southampton, sister, Carol Monks of Snellville, GA, brother, Donald Whittier and his wife Judy of Nova Scotia, daughter in law, Tami D’Angelo of Thompson’s Station, TN, 7 grandchildren, Chris D’Angelo and his wife Kim, Bryan D’Angelo and his wife Nicole, Meghan D’Angelo and her wife, Tori Cedeno, Tony D’Angelo, Tori Griffin and her husband, Brian, Jake Wayson and his wife, Jane, and Sammy Wayson. He also has 4 great grandchildren, Jayden, Danika, Liana, and Lucia.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his son, Mike D’Angelo and his sister Carol Monks.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday March 4, 2024, for calling hours for Guy from 4 – 7PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St, Holyoke, MA.
Guy will have a private, family committal service, with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, March 5, at 3PM in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Guy’s name may be made to the Soldiers Home in Holyoke, payable to the Veterans Home in Holyoke Trustee Fund, 110 Cherry St, Holyoke, MA 01040.
