Giovani Allexy Montañez, beloved son of Axel Fuentes and Maileny Montanez, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 16, at his home at the age of 15.
Giovani was born on May 22, 2008, in Holyoke, MA, he was currently in 10th grade at the Discovery High School in Springfield.
He was a very down-to-earth teenager, who was humble and kind. Giovani was known for lighting up the room with his energetic smile and caring heart.
Giovani recently made the Junior Varsity Basketball team at school and was nicknamed Steph Curry.
He loved many things in life, from spending time with family, gaming on his Play Station, Ramen Noodles, and pepperoni pizza.
His interests included a love of music and dancing, from old school to the Imagine Dragons and more.
Giovani was the only boy grandson in his maternal family. His large presence in his young life will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Giovani leaves his parents, Axel and Maileny of Springfield, maternal grandmother, Margarita Nazario of Holyoke, paternal grandparents, George, and Evelyn (Negron) Fuentes of West Springfield, his maternal aunt and uncle Gleny and Emanuel Rodriguez of Holyoke along numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, Ava and Mia Moquin, Jacob and Kaylee Fuentes, and Jeremiah Diaz, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Giovani was recently predeceased by his grandfather, Victor Rodriguez in 2019.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, December 27, for calling hours for Giovani, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA.
Giovani’s funeral will be held on Thursday, December 28, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with an 11 a.m. funeral home service. Committal prayers and burial will follow immediately after the service at Forestdale West Cemetery in Holyoke.
