HOLYOKE – Gerry “Gary” Walker, 53, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke on July 15, 1956 to the late George Walker Sr. and Lucille (Milledge) Walker. Gary attended schools in Holyoke and graduated from Holyoke High School. He was a sports enthusiast, he loved to play golf and was an avid New York Giants fan. Gary leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons, Cameron Walker of Boston, MA and Austin Walker of South Hadley; his six brothers, George Jr., Charlie and Mark of Holyoke, John and his wife Iris of Rowley, MA, Johnnie and his wife Renee of Middletown, DE and Vincent of Boston; his six sisters, Bess Emery and her husband Jonathan of Fort Washington, MD., Bonnie, Terry and Tammy of Holyoke, Patricia Stewart and her husband Junior of Derry, N.H. and Franceen McDonald and her husband Jason of East Longmeadow and several nieces and nephews. Gary will also be sadly missed by a special cousin, Lucille Griffin and her husband Douglas and a special family friend, Debra Thorton. Beside his parents, Gary was also predeceased by his brother, Howard Walker and his sister, Silla Walker. Calling hours will be on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00p.m. at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s memory, to the Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West 6th Floor, Brookline, MA. 02445-7226.
