Holyoke – Gary Raymond Champagne, 68, lifelong resident of Holyoke, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday May 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at his side.
Born in Holyoke to Raymond and Marie (Canata) Champagne.
Gary was a loving husband and father. He had a big heart and liked helping people. He donated to many charities and gave the best advice.
He was an entrepreneur and was involved in many different industries. He especially liked working within the funeral industry. He did so for over 45 years, helping many area funeral homes. He was very unique and a strong asset to the funeral industry. Additionally, he ran Champagne livery service for many years.
Gary was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke and had a steadfast and strong Catholic faith. Gary was well known and loved by all those who knew him.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara J. Champagne of Holyoke; his three grateful children, Amber M. Champagne-Matos and her husband, Tony, of Westfield, Ashley L. Champagne-Mckenney and her husband, Justin, of Texas and Anthony G. Champagne of Holyoke, and his adored grandchildren, Liam, Ashtin, Maddalena, and Luca.
Upon Gary’s request, all services were private with a funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke and burial in St. Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke. Memorial donations may be made in Gary's memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21714. Messier Funeral Home in Holyoke was entrusted with Gary’s arrangements.
