WINDSOR LOCKS, CT � Gail A. Smith, 67, a dedicated caregiver, daughter, mother, sister and friend passed away on January 8, 2017 at Evergreen Health Care in Stafford Springs, CT. She was born in Biddeford, ME on April 11, 1949 a daughter of Alice B (Paul) and the late Arthur R. Whitten Sr. She was educated locally and began working as a baker for Finest Supermarkets. She continued her baking career with Edwards and Stop and Shop in CT. She was a dedicated CNA for over 20 years and most recently worked for Hartford VNA Healthcare up until her illness in 2012. Gail loved caring for others and she always made you feel special no matter what the circumstance. She will be missed dearly by her mother Alice and her husband Joe Kaminski who is a great father both of Smith�s Ferry in Holyoke; her four daughters, Laura Farrell and her husband William of KY; Becky Smith of Windsor Locks; Laury Smith and her wife Sharon of MO; Shannon Dickinson and her husband Ranie of Somers, CT and her brother Arthur �Skippy� Whitten, Jr and his wife Francine of FL. She will be missed dearly by her 12 grandchildren and her great grandson, Killian Dion as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gail was also predeceased by two brothers, Paul Whitten and Johnny Whitten. Life celebration hours will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 4-7PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. A funeral home service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11AM at Messier�s and be followed by the burial in Smith�s Ferry Cemetery, Holyoke.
