1926- 2018
HOLYOKE- Evelyn B. (Kuenzel) Phelps, 91, of Holyoke, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Mount Saint Vincent Health Care Center. She was born in Westfield on June 2, 1926, a daughter of the late Erdman and Eva (Brien) Kuenzel. Evelyn was a compassionate woman who would give the shirt off her back to someone in need. She was well known for her love of tea, gardening, and baking. Evelyn is survived by her loving sons: Peter Guz and his wife Nancy of Granby, Gary Guz of Bangor, PA; her step-children: William Phelps, Richard Phelps, Robert Phelps Jr.; her grandson Eric Guz and his wife Paula of Marlborough; her great-granddaughter Cailyn Guz, and her brother Jack Kuenzel. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Phelps in 2016, as well as 7 siblings. . A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10AM in Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot St., Holyoke. Donations in Evelyn’s name may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, 34 Jarvis Ave, Holyoke, MA 01040 or Harmony House, P.O. Box 6135, Holyoke, MA 01040.
