Ernest "Ernie" Chagnon Jr.

Ernest “Ernie” Chagnon, Jr. 87, of Turners Falls, MA. Passed away on January 30, 2025.
Born February 10, 1937, in Holyoke, MA, a son of Ernest, Sr. and Clara (Drummer) Chagnon.
Ernie was raised and educated in Holyoke, a graduate of Holyoke Trade, before becoming a longtime resident of Turners Falls.
He was employed as a printer throughout his career, working at various printing companies.
Ernie was a dedicated Red Sox Fan, for better or worse.
Whether you called him Ernie, Dad, Brother, Uncle or Grandpa. One thing for sure, this amazing man would have you laughing!
Known for his baby blue eyes and quick wit, he was always ready with a famous one liner.
Ernie is survived by his loving children, step-daughter, Laura Murray and her husband Bruce of Philadelphia , Lisa Valentin of Greenfield, Karen Dodd and her husband Scott of Turners Falls and Leanne Neely and her husband, Cliff of Holyoke; sister Claire Steinbock of Florida, brother, Carl Chagnon and his wife Susan of North Carolina; and June Jarrett of Holyoke; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling Hours for Ernest will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, from 10 – 11:30 AM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA followed by a service at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be held in the family lot in Forestdale Cemetery, Cabot St., in Holyoke, MA.
