ERLINDA VIEIRA
1926 – 2013
HOLYOKE- Erlinda M. Vieira, 87, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Loveland, CO and was educated in Sister Cabrini Catholic School in Colorado and has been a Holyoke resident for over sixty three years. She and her late husband Fernando Vieira, who she married July 12, 1955, owned and operated White Swan Laundry on Main St. in Holyoke for many years. Erlinda also worked at American Advertising and retired in 1982 from General Cleaners. She was an avid gardener and loved sharing her bounty with her family and friends and enjoyed traveling with her family. Erlinda was a woman of great faith and was a communicant of the former Holy Family Parish. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 27 years Fernando Vieira on November 27, 1982 and by two sisters, Rose Hernandez and Lorenza Caberra. Erlinda is survived by her son, Anthony J. Vieira and his wife Catherine of So. Hadley; 3 daughters, Rosemary Reilly of Ludlow; Linda Ann Harrell and her husband Robert of Adelanto, CA; Theresa Mitchell and her husband Jim of Chicopee; her brother, Paul Alonzo of Nebraska; a sister, Freida Alonzo of Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Amy, Megan, Joe, Chris, Jessica, Anthony; 3 great grandchildren, Madison, Noah and Joachin. She also leaves several dear nieces, nephews and cousins and close friends. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 4-7PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. Her funeral will begin on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 8:30AM from the funeral home and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in St. Jerome Cemetery.
