HOLYOKE- Emil Krassler, 78, of Holyoke passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Emil was born in Yugoslavia on October 28, 1934 a son of the late Franz and Susanna (Berger) Krassler. He was educated overseas and in Holyoke schools. Emil served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War aboard the USS New Jersey. He worked for many years as a machinist at HAPCO Auto and Perry’s Automotive before starting Hillside Auto Sales with his beloved wife Evelyn (Hagel) Krassler who died in 2003. The couple owned and operated Hillside Auto for over 45 years and enjoyed serving the community while creating lifetime friends. Emil was a member of the Holyoke Turn Verein. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to Niantic, CT and Daytona Beach where he could walk the shores for hours. Emil was active at the Holyoke Geriatric Center and the Holyoke Soldiers Home where he enjoyed cards, bowling and making friends. Emil is survived by his two sons, Michael Krassler and his wife Louise of Holyoke; Paul Krassler and his wife Lisa of Agawam; his daughter, Barbara Korman of Springfield; one brother, Karl Krassler of Holyoke; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Krassler, Andrew Krassler, Anita Krassler, Matthew Krassler, Heather Krassler-Rodriguez, Julie Korman and Sarah Korman; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Visiting hours for Emil will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 2-5 PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. His funeral will begin on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 8:45AM from the funeral home and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church. The Rite of Committal and Burial with military honors will be in St. Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke.
