Elsie A. Stemmer

Elsie A. Stemmer 1916 � 2009 HOLYOKE � Elsie A. (Stich) Stemmer, 92, died Friday, July 10, 2009 at Mount Saint Vincent Nursing Home in Holyoke. She was born in Holyoke on September 18, 1916 to the late Anthony O. and Annie (Malek) Stich. Elsie attended schools in Clifton, N.J. and graduated from Clifton High School. Her life was immersed in the Catholic faith and she was a long-time parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. She enjoyed volunteering in church activities. She had a passion for working with the nuns and did so for many years. Elsie also loved children and all different types of animals. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Albert Stemmer in 1975. Elsie leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Kenneth R. Stich of Chicopee and her two nieces, Connie Simons of Chicopee and Cindy Kroll and her husband Joseph of Belchertown. Elsie was also predeceased by her sister Gertrude Stich and her canine friend Tippie. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Tuesday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Holyoke. Calling hours will precede the Liturgy from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Elsie�s memory, to the Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1945 Northampton St, Holyoke, MA, 01040-3498.
