1924 – 2016
HOLYOKE-Eleanor W. Gray, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at her home in The Villages, FL. She was a longtime secretary for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and retired after 27 years of faithful service, serving under Rev. David Evans and Rev. Golan Root. Eleanor was born in Holyoke on May 8, 1924, the daughter of the late Harold and Elsie (Armitage) Woodruff and was educated in Holyoke Schools. She furthered her education at Ryder College in Trenton, NJ. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 49 years James S. Gray in 1994. She is survived by her daughters Donna Robinson of The Villages, FL and Joanne Kane of Lynchburg, VA; her son-in-law Tom Kane: her grandchildren: Tim Robinson of Portland, OR; Karin Robinson of London, England; Tricia Kane of Arlington, VA; Matt Kane of Forest, VA and 5 great grandchildren; James Gray & Dillon Kane, Bennett & Brady Robinson and Sophie Hofmann. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to remember her. Friends and family are asked to join for her funeral service on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10AM in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. The burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage St., Spfld, MA 01104 or St Paul’s Episcopal Church.
