Holyoke – Mrs. Edith (Macdonald) Halket, 99, passed away on Friday, April 2 in a local nursing home. She was born in Scotland on March 28, 1911, the daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Rae) Macdonald. She was a ninety six year Holyoke resident, attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Holyoke Business School. She was a secretary and retired in 1995 from the Holyoke Taxpayers Association. She was the wife of the late Gordon Halket who died on August 7, 1985. She is survived by her son Donald and his wife Connie of Holyoke. She also leaves three grandchildren, Ross Halket and his wife Mona of Holyoke, David Halket of Holyoke, Glen Halket and his wife Bianca of Southampton, four great grandchildren, Aubrey, Savannah, Matthew, Emily, and her nephew, Alex Macdonald. She was predeceased by her brother, Alex Macdonald, Jr. in 1981. The funeral procession will form at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St. (Route 5) on Wednesday, April 7 at 9am followed by a Service of Remembrance at 10am. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Tuesday, April 6 from 4 to 7pm.
