Dorothy Mahler

HOLYOKE � Dorothy �Dot� Mahler, 82, passed away on Friday, April, 1 2011 at home. She was surrounded by her children, Richard Mahler of Tulsa, OK; Sue Lawrence � Longo of Marlborough, MA and Jim Mahler of Holyoke, MA. Dot was born in Dec. 1928 in Newark, NJ to Charles and Margaret O�Connor. The youngest of three children, her brother Charles and her sister Peggy predeceased her. Dot married George Mahler in 1951, and lived in Metuchen, NJ until the family relocated to Holyoke in 1965. However, Dot proudly declared herself a �Jersey Girl� her entire life. She was a bookkeeper at the former Highland Laundry for 10 years and then as a loan consultant for many years at Vanguard Savings Bank until her retirement in 1992. Dot and her husband were married 42 years until his death in 1993. Dot is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. All funeral services are private and under the care of Messier Funeral Home.
