Tribute
On September 24, 2021, Doris Rios (Loli), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, passed away at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield at the age of 76. Doris was born on March 6, 1945, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, daughter of Dolores and Juana (Andino) Perez. She was raised and educated in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, before coming to the States in 1966. Doris first resided in Brooklyn, NY, and later in Holyoke and most recently in Springfield.

She worked in several factories throughout the years and was a bus monitor in Holyoke and helped many under privileged children as a Foster Mother for the city of Holyoke. Doris was at the center of her family; she was a phenomenal cook and homemaker who loved to entertain her family and friends during the holidays and other special occasions.  She was also the winner of a radio contest several years ago for the best Morcillas in Springfield. She crocheted many hats, blankets, and other garments for those she loved and cared for. Doris also enjoyed listening to music; especially Bachata and loved to dance.

She leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Victor Rios of Springfield, her children, Iris M. Luna of Davenport, FL, Marilyn E. Colecchia of Daytona, FL, Sonia L. DeMaio, and her husband Jeff of Springfield, Doris D. Saavedra and her husband Luis A. of Palm City, Fl, Raymond Lopez, and his companion Maddie Ramos, Destiny S. Rios all of Springfield, and Ivalise M. Rios of Fitchburg, MA, two brothers, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her beloved dog Nina.

Family and Friends are invited to gather on Monday, Oct. 4th for visitation from 4-7pm at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday Oct. 5th beginning at 8:30 am at the funeral home with a  Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 54 N.
