Dexter Ortiz

Dexter Ortiz, 38, a lifelong resident of Holyoke, passed away unexpectedly on
Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Holyoke Medical Center.

Dexter was born on December 26th, 1985, in Springfield, MA, the son of Leonardo Ortiz Sr.
and Evelyn Arocho.

He was a graduate of Holyoke High School and made a living working on what he loved most,
carpentry, automobiles, and motorcycles.

Dexter will best be remembered for his desire to live his life on his terms. Always seeking
fun and adventure during all points of his life. He took every opportunity to share
experiences, make memories, and enjoy those things that mattered most to him. His proudest
accomplishments were his children which he loved unconditionally.

His passing leaves a massive hole in the hearts of not only his family but also the Flats Community. The Flats Community was as much a part of Dexter's life as those related by blood. A second family that loved and adored him for the simple and humble man he grew to be.

Dexter leaves behind his parents, Leonardo and Evelyn of Holyoke. Beloved children, Dexter
Ortiz Jr., Destiny Ortiz, Deric Margarito Ortiz Rivera, Deliana Evette Ortiz Rivera, and two stepchildren, Eric Bothwell and Jamil. Three brothers, Jorge Luis Natal, Leonardo Ortiz Jr., and Jeffrey Ortiz. As well as countless nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation for Dexter on Thursday, July 18,
2024, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke. A Funeral Mass will be Friday July 26th at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Chapel in Holyoke, followed by committal services in Forestdale West Cemetery in Holyoke. www.messierfuneralhome.com
