FEEDING HILLS - Christopher T. Maher , age 58 of Feeding Hills, died Friday August 2, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Christopher was born in Holyoke, son of the late John and Ann (Walsh) Maher. He was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Westfield State College where he majored in Criminal Justice. While in college, he obtained his EMT license and worked part-time at Eastern Ambulance in Springfield. After graduating college, he was employed for many years as a Campus Police Officer at Holyoke Community College where he retired from. Known by his friends and loved ones for his kind and generous nature, he loved his family, people and animals (especially dogs). He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, great food, car rides in the country, the Big E, the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade and sporting events. When living in Holyoke, he was a very active congregant of Blessed Sacrament Church. After moving to Feeding Hills, he regularly attended St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield with his beloved mother Ann. He is predeceased by his parents and many aunts and uncles. Chris will be deeply missed by his sister Elizabeth A. Maher of Agawam, brothers John J. Maher Jr. and James F. Maher both of Feeding Hills, and his brother William F. Maher and his wife Marie of Lady Lake, FL. He also leaves an aunt, Margaret Boulanger of Westfield and numerous cousins and friends. The funeral will be held Tuesday Aug. 13th at 9:00 a.m. from the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church across the street, burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery, all in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held Monday Aug. 12th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
