Carroll C.V. Arnold

HOLYOKE- Carroll V. Arnold (�C.V.�), 88, passed away at his home in Holyoke on Sunday, June 15, 2014. C.V. was born in Moravia, NY on December 10, 1925 a son of the late Dent V. and Carrie J. (Brown) Arnold. He joined the United States Marine Corp after high school in 1943 and proudly served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He later graduated from Bentley College majoring in accounting and began working locally as an accountant with Marvellum Company in Holyoke and retired from Ingersoll-Rand in Windsor, CT. He married Irene (Losty) on January 22, 1946 and the couple spent 66 loving years together before her passing in July of 2012. C.V. enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and picnics by the pool. He enjoyed family vacations on Cape Cod and loved to go to his children and grandchildren�s ball games. He loved fishing with his kids and taking trips across the Country with Irene after they retired, and especially enjoyed the family reunions with his family from New York. C.V. was an active member of the Westfield River Valley Marine Corps League Detachment 141. Carroll is survived by his two sons, Douglas Arnold and his wife Helen of Holyoke; David Arnold and his wife Cheryl of Southampton; a daughter, Karen Fontaine of South Hadley; five grandchildren, Jennifer Arnold, Nicole Arnold, Christopher Fontaine, Matthew Fontaine, and Andrew Fontaine. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins and was predeceased by his six brothers. A funeral home service will be held for C.V. on Friday, June 20 at 11:15AM in Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, followed by the burial with military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 19 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Carroll�s name to Holyoke VNA & Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden St, Holyoke, MA 01040 or to the Westfield Marine Corp League Scholarship Fund, 71 North Elm St, Westfield, MA 01085.
