HOLYOKE- Carlos M. “Black” Rivera, 41, of Holyoke, passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2018. He was born in Holyoke on October 10, 1976, a beloved son of Francine Peterson and the late Carlos Rivera. He was educated in Holyoke and worked most recently as a self-employed painter. Carlos was well-loved by his family and friends and was known for his humbleness. He loved all things baseball; throughout his life he played on many Holyoke Baseball Leagues always guaranteeing home runs for his team. Carlos also loved fishing and watching the Red Sox. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Francine Peterson of Holyoke; his children: Aneesa, Sumaih, Edgerin, and Josiah; his sister Kendra Reyes, his uncles: Eddie and Carlmelo; his aunts: Dorenda, Mary-Jane, Shirley, Louids, and Lily, as well as many other close friends and extended loving family members. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 10AM-12PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA with a funeral home service at 12Noon.
