HOLYOKE- Bessie Jean Emery, 68, passed away at Washington Adventist Hospital, in Ft. Washington, MD. On May 6, 2013. Bess was born in Americus, GA on August 20, 1944 to George and Lucille Walker. She departed this life on May 6, 2013 at the age of sixty-eight. She was the second oldest of fifteen brothers and sisters. Bess attended Holyoke High School in Holyoke, MA where she excelled academically. During her time in Holyoke she worked for Sears and Roebuck Co., and the Amped Company. She was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Holyoke, MA where she served on the usher board for many years. She enjoyed bowling and spending time at the Bolling Air Force Base Bowling Center, where she had many friends. Bess also loved to garden; flowers were a source of beauty and she always took pride in her efforts. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed holidays. She is survived by her loving husband Jonathan D. Emery and their three adored children Tonia Nicole, Colby Alexandria and Jonathan �Damien� Jr.; her ten brothers and sisters, Terry, Tammy and Bonnie Walker of Holyoke, MA. Franceen McDonald and husband Jason McDonald of East Longmeadow, MA, Patricia Stewart and her husband Collins Stewart of Derry, NH, George, Charlie, and Mark Walker of Holyoke, MA; Vincent Walker of Boston, MA , and John Walker and his wife Iris of Rowley, MA; a special Cousin Lucille-Leverette Griffin and her husband Douglass Griffin of Chicopee, MA. She will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who she loved dearly. Bess was predeceased by her parents and four sibling�s; Howard, Gerry, Johnny B. and Silla Walker. Visiting hours will be held on TODAY Saturday May 18, 2013 from 9-10:00 AM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040 and followed by a 10:30 Graveside service at the Forestdale Cemetery, Cabot St., Holyoke.
