Holyoke – Beatrice M. Gately, 94, died in a local nursing home on Wednesday, July 26. She was born in Shirley, Ma on March 25, 1915, the daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Credit) Gately. She attended schools in Fitchburg and was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She retired after many years of service as a nursing supervisor in the emergency room at Holyoke Hospital. She is survived by her niece, Lisa Gately, and nephew, Michael Gately and his wife Tamara of El Paso, Texas and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph E. Gately in 1979. Friends are invited to meet on Saturday, August 29 for a 10am Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 30 Main St in South Hadley. It was Beatrice’s request that there are no calling hours and burial will be private. The Messier Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Contributions in her memory may be directed to Jericho, 537 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
